    Driver problems with Vista

    Sorry guys, new here and wasn't really sure where to post this. Anyways, I have an Abit KN8 Ultra motherboard, and have just installed Vista (wanted to give it a try).
    I've just downloaded the latest NForce 4 AMD drivers for my motherboard, and I've installed them, but I don't think it has seemed to of taken effect. My X-FI card isn't being detected by the motherboard, and I get an error message saying "Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system. Please Please ensure that your product is installed properly before running the setup program."
    Sorry if I haven't explained this well, but I'm just no good when it comes to drivers.

    Cheers guys

    - Charlie

    Has the soundcard worked ok previously?

    In device manager are there any entries listed as 'unknown device'?

    Yeah it's been fine previously. If it does turn out to be an actual error with the card it doesn't matter too much since I have warrenty anyway.

    In device manager under "other devices" there's a Multimedia Audio controller and an Unknown Device like you said.

    Cheers

    Looks like there are Vista specific drivers for the X-FI cards.

    If it is XP drivers you are getting the problem with then try the Vista drivers at;

    I had similar problem. When selecting the drivers try going soundblaster then SB XFI rather than straight through XFI

    Yeah it is Vista drivers I've been using, and I did go sound blaster then X-Fi, because the Xtreme Music option isn't on the X-FI one

    Cheers

    Have a look on your card, it may say Etreme music pro ? If it does, find that driver on the Creative site - it worked for me and mines the extreme music !! Fingers crossed !!
