IE help

my internet explorer has gone up the creek, and goes to not responding whenever i click a link and is basically unusable.

So i now am using Firefox which is a vast amount better anyway.

my problem is when ever i click a link or something, the default program is IE, , i have changed it to Firefox but IE still wants to come up when i click some things as it only wants to open in IE, is there a way to irradicate IE so that it doesn't even exist let alone interfere?

if so please tell me as im losing patience with this and will be reinstalling if it keeps this up and theres no way of doing the above,

Try this

-Control panal
-Internet options
-Internet properties, -Default web browser -untick
-OK

This has to be done with administrator privileges, and you may be asked to re-start (so back up any work before doing this).

Even if this works, it's not a good idea to try to get rid of IE altogether, as many prog use this in one way or another. Just leave it to one side and continue using FF.

but i clicked on that trojan thing ther other day whilst drunk for a laugh and now anything in IE crashes so i dont want it used at all, but i have made it so it cant open now and is forced to ff
