installing windows from usb?

Hello,
I have bought a used laptop, and I'd like to reinstall windows on it. Now the dvd drive doesn't work properly, and i can't find the right drivers for it, so i'd like to install xp on it.
Only way would be via usb...
I have a mp3-pmayer that works with a SD card, 1GB.
Is it possible to install it from this?
If so how please?
I have a windows xp install cd...
