Ok, I have recently purchased this motherboard, it has yet to arrive so these are pre emptive questions which may or may not be answered when I get it, but I thought I would just check now in case there is anything else I need to buy.

Just so you know, this is my first full build but I have replaced the CPU fan and stuff like that before on my current system.


1. If you look at this picture

you can see there is a Molex connector next to the top PCIe x16 slot.

What is this for and do I need to connect my PSU to this? (I am assuming this is for crossfire, which I am not using).


2. If you look at this picture

you can see the am2 socket, around this socket is the framework to hold the CPU fan.

I have a Zalman CNPS 9500 LED which in the instruction manual says, for am2 socket motherboards you have to use the existing cooler installation framework (retention frame, backplate and screws).

This has got me concerned as it appears to me that there is no place to screw in the Zalman, is there another piece of framework missing.

I bought an OEM Athlon 6000+ which doesn’t come with a fan, so I will have no existing fan so to speak.

Am I worrying about nothing or is there something else I need to buy?
