    dvdrw help

    hello all,

ive got a philips sdvd8431 dvdrw drive in my laptop & as of yesterday its gone all weird on me, it reads & plays all disks fine data, music, films, but when i burn a disk it says its copied sucsessful but then try to open the disk its showing as blank nothing on it,i use nero but ive also tried roxio & different media, tried uninstalling the drive from device manager but made no difference so decided to format the laptop thismorning but the bloody thing is still the same, also the firmware is the latest one & was done a while ago.

any suggestions anything else that i can try ? or is it knackered & needs to be replaced.

    thanks alot.

When burning, is there a finalise session option? I think this needs to be done so that the disc can actually be read by a computer, otherwise it may just be 'open' to receiving more data. Once a session has been closed, then everything burnt in that session should be able to be seen.

Give it a try, hope it helps.
