If I understand your problem correctly, your Xmod produces popping sound on your laptop but works fine on your desktop.

I apologize for any inconvenience caused from this experience. Please allow me to assist you in resolving the issue.
I would require you to try the following:
1. Connect the Xmod to the BACK USB port of your laptop.
2. Disable the background applications.
- Click START. Go to RUN and type MSCONFIG. Then click OK.
- Click SELECTIVE STARTUP and then uncheck LOAD STARTUP GROUP ITEMS.
- Apply the changes and reboot the computer when prompted.
- Disconnect all other USB devices.
3. Disable the onboard soundcard of your laptop.
