This has got to be one of the worst errors I've seen in a LONG while.
A friend of mine owns a Dell Inspiron 8200 Laptop and last night was the first night that we tried to burning pictures onto a DVD+R.
The problem with the laptop the first time around was that it wouldn't recognize the blank disc. A CD-R disc of the pictures worked on the laptop and we were able to extract the pictures onto the Hard Drive but DVD+R discs never seemed to work.
After several tries to get the drive to recognize the disc (ejecting, re-inserting), a blue screen came up.

Now the second but worst problem is that now my friend can't boot up to Windows XP. The CD/DVD Drive AND Floppy Drive AND Primary Hard Drive was no longer found. The only place I could've gone to was the BIOS, which I looked around in and those particular devices were greyed out, non-existant. DEAD.
The laptop has some important documents and files that my friend needs to gain access to, or at least try to back-up before entering a reformat if need be. I'm hoping this is just a hardware incompatibility problem but due to my inexperience with Laptops, all I can do is hope for the best.
If you guys can help me out with the dilemma it'd be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
