    Desktop crashes shortly into windows

Having not used it for a long time, I thought I'd dust off my old XP3200+ NForce 2 based desktop system. It boots into windows without any problems, but about 5 minutes in (seemingly sooner if I try to go online) I get a blue screen with the following error message:

    si3112r.sys F7489AFB base at F7482000 datestamp 3ed7e3b9

I know the file refers to the RAID controller, the problem is I can't do a repair install because I don't have the relevant driver on a floppy anymore. I also have a suspicion that this drive is dying/dead. If it is, can I buy a SATA drive with the driver on a floppy (I currently have no way of getting one), or should I just go back to PATA?

Or, is there another way forward?

Hmm so you don't have the driver? I can send it to you if you want?

As for buying a new SATA disk, the driver would probably come on a CD. But you might want to contact the company you'd buy from and ask them.

If you can't get your floppy drive to work, how about nLite? http://www.nliteos.com/

You can integrate your drivers into XP. If you know about nLite ignore this bit.

You'd copy your XP disc to your hard drive. Then run nLite and point it and your copied Windows folder. Seeing as you just need the SATA driver, just go to the driver integration window and point nLite to the driver (which as I said before I can send you). nLite will then "integrate" the driver into XP. You can then make an ISO, burn that to disk and re-install XP.

You can do other things with XP but you just need the SATA drivers done.
