Windows reinstall - stupid question !

Err just plucked up stregnth to wipe my pc and reinstall, and when the message comes up - press any key to boot from CD - press lots of keys and noght happens - then i boot into windows - what am I doing wrong/what have I forgotten.

I have tried 2 kb's and a ps2 to usb converter

Err, I tried going into the boot menu (f11) and booting from CD and set it as first boot device in Bios order.

Is that what you mean?

is your keyboard USB or PS2?

if USB - the bios might not pick it up and won't let you do anything(might show as a keyboard failure) - I find this with my apple Pro keyboard when it boots.

can you disable the hard drive as a startup option, that should force the CD to autorun without the press any key prompt, if that works follow setup until the pc reboots and set the hard disk as 1st boot again. it boots from hard drive after the initial setup is run so will carry on as normal.
