I've just discovered that all the problems I've been having with my laptop not booting and freezing during operation go away if I physically bend the case by pushing down on opposite corners!
Is it likely that I've got a loose connection somewhere?
Should I open the case and have a look? There isn't much to lose really, I've already lost work with a Windows reinstall.
Sounds like a loose connection with one of the components. The motherboard/case flexing upwards probably applies a little pressure somewhere making the connection more secure.

strip it down and rebuild it, never know your luck.
Try reseat the ram, laptop ram socket is not really secure :S
