The system does not power on, even with only mobo (24+8) and the GPU plugged in. It did however give a bit of a stutter to life when I fiddled around with the GPU power cables. (Moved the molex - PCI-E adapters to native PCI-E adapters. (Only one 8800 GTX in atm).
When the system turned on , the GTX was at full fan like a normal boot, but the PSU's fan was very very dim, and the pump was only getting a tiny trickle of power. When the GTX's fan calmed down the pump got its full power, yet the PSU's fan still sounded meh. The whole thing looked like a post, but wasn't at my station to actually see anything (ie only at a power outlet).
I've tested with a few other GTXs, similar results, and also when plugged in a 2nd identical PSU (24+8) the system look like it should, ie PSU leds on full, and the GTX's siren warning about low power (PCI-Es not in).
So, sound like the original PSU has died/never lived?
