    Computer not posting?

    Hi,

I have a mates machine that was working fine and all of a sudden it does not POST, it powers up and nothing is displayed on the screen, like there is no signal coming through.

I have tried reseating the RAM and graphics card and checked all power connections and still nothing.

    Any help will be appreciated.

Well I had a similar problem in that the fans sped up, the motherboard lit up but wouldn't boot., and it turned out to be the PSU............... could you try another graphic card to eliminate that .

Thats exactly whats happening; it's a strange one a PSU would be the last thing on your mind considering everything powers up.

I have checked everything and also reseated and re-connected power to graphics card and still no luck.

Well not for example:- if power is not getting to the CPU, and that's what happened to me as I put another CPU in and it still wouldn't boot.

    Re: Computer not posting?

Could you post the exact details of your hardware ?

If your motherboard has built in video, you could try removing the graphic card and use the built in one....

Do you get any error lights ? or error bleeps ? Most motherboards usually give you some indication as to what has failed during POST, either through a sequence of beeps or a small block of LED lights or similar, without knowing your hardware it's impossible to know what, if any, system it uses to report POST faults...

    Re: Computer not posting?

Maybe BIOS issue.... try resetting the CMOS. If that doesn't work try removing the battery wait for a few minutes and replace...

Be aware this will reset all bios settings to default.

    Worth a shot...

    Re: Computer not posting?

Just had a job where the PC was doing exactky what you describe - fans powering up and then: death!

It turned out that the powerswitch on the inside front of the case wasn't in it's housing properly.
