    Question HSF Loose

Hey guys, yesterday night i installed a new sound card and tried to neaten up the cables inside, but in the process i think did something. when then after using the PC, the over heat alarm (60*c) keep going off more often and idle temps where around 55*c, as opposed to 35*c how they normally are. i opened up the case again to take a look around the heatsink, and i noticed that one of the push pins (upper left while board is installed) was loose and rattling (popped out). i pushed it in, but cause of the angle it's at i cant push firmly enough, and i dont think it's flush. i need to take out the PSU to get at it,or take out the whole board.

is it ok to apply pressure to the pins while the board is still in the case? or would it be best to take it all out...and if it doesnt go down to normal levels....would i need to re-apply new grease? because it's maybe pulled away from the setting...im hoping if i secure it back in it'll just be ok, as i dont have any grease here! its a stock cooler.

    Re: HSF Loose

What cooler is this? If it uses the stock Intel push pins you can do this in situ, take a flat head screw driver and twist the loose pin anti clockwise by 90°, hold onto the heatsink (push towards motherboard) and pull the pin back (towards you), twist it (using fingers) 90° clockwise and push it in firmly into hole till you hear a click.
