Anted Fusion Case - Can't get system to boot

    Hi Guys,

I'm trying to build a HTPC for my living room. I have all my components built up together, but I cannot get the machine to start. When I press the power button on the front of my Antec Fusion case, the two built-in fans and my processor fan turn over for a second, and that's it! Nothing else happens. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-8TRC410MNF , and I've tried 2 different processors (one I know definitely works as I removed it from my desktop machine). I have also tried another older motherboard which was working, with the same result (the older board had a power LED which lit, but I don't seem to have one on the Gigabyte board). I have disconnected all hard drives, dvd drive, VFD, and removed the ram, and I get the exact same result. Can anyone suggest anything? Is it possible my power supply is gone?

    Regards,
    GAH

    Hi,

I bought the case on Ebay a few months ago, and just got around to building it up. There's been no bangs, or smoke coming from anywhere, and the symptom haven't changed (just the minimal fan movement) . I have a Dell machine at present which I use as a media centre machine, but the Antec case as looks cool. However, it's not very cool at the moment, just dead!

    Regards,
    GAH

make sure you have all cables connecting especially your cpu cable which if you missed will cause your problem as most motherboards these days have an auto shutoff or some wont even turn on unless its connected so you dont fry your CPU. It could be your cpu but i would really check all connections are in especially your power ones certain boards need 2 cpu power connections so double check if its still not working try a differnt psu to see if it will boot if you dont have a spare DC all draining hardware get a cheap one for testing purposes and if it works get a decent one always great to have a spare PSU about for testing these things.

Re: Anted Fusion Case - Can't get system to boot

    Hi vhero,

Thanks for the reply. Today I ordered a cheap power supply from Ebay, which if it works, will allow me to get my system up and running. It will also allow me to send my faulty PSU back to Antec for repairs. I'll update this thread once the new PSU arrives.

    Regards,
    GAH

p.s. Meant to add that I have tried two different cpu's and definitely checked all connections are correct.

Re: Anted Fusion Case - Can't get system to boot

    Hi Guys

Quick update - Antec have agreed to replace my power supply, and have sent me an RMA number. I will post the faulty unit back to them tomorrow. Still haven't received the PSU I ordered from Ebay, but hopefully it'll turn up for the weekend.

    Regards,
    GAH

Re: Anted Fusion Case - Can't get system to boot

    Hi Guys,

Success at last! The PSU I ordered from Ebay didn't turn up, but the seller was kind enough to send a replacement. However, it arrived after the replacement from Antec in Holland, so I must congratulate Antec on their service. However, even with 2 power supplies, I still couldn't get the machine to boot. Turned out the CMOS battery was low, so when I replaced it, the machine eventually booted!

Thanks to all for their suggestions.

    Regards,
    GAH
