BSOD on Startup - Matrix RAID related?

Hey all,

My dad's having a problem with his Dell machine... IE was hanging so he did a hard reset (typical!) and when he restarted he was greeted with a BSOD. This now happens every time he restarts (error code 0x00000024).

I noticed however that on the Intel Matrix RAID BIOS screen after POST, it says "RAID Status: Verify" in yellow, whereas previously it was "OK" in green.

Has he somehow broken the RAID array? It's a RAID-1 setup with two 160GB disks. The only way I know how to verify the array is from within Windows (using the Intel software) and I can't find any other tools to do it from DOS on the Intel website.

Any ideas on how to fix this please?

on the raid bios screen it should tell you to press a button to get to the options.. what model dell is it exactly?

Yup, Ctrl+I gets to the RAID BIOS, but there is no option to Verify the array from there... I can only create or destroy it

In the MAtrix Raid options you can right click on the yellow and go repair. That should sort it out.

If it's RAID 1 it might be worth tring to remove one of the drives and see if that helps you boot.
Can you get into Safe Mode or does it blue screen before then?

Sorted in the end by buying a 3rd SATA HDD, doing a clean install of Windows on it, then installed the Matrix RAID tool to fix the array from the clean Windows install - seems to be working fine now
