You already have an antec 900? Couldn't you reuse that, likewise you have a 3870 X2?

The 256mb 8800gt is not that great. the 512mb one was £100 somewhere in the bargains forum. Get that instead.

The first thing I notice there is that your going for the retail CPU, would it not be better to buy the CPU OEM and get a seperate better HSF if he's going to overclock this thing?

OEM - 1 Yr Warranty for the sake of a tenner. If you plan on upgrading the CPU soon then this is a good option but I'd always go for retail.

Ok but is the stock HSF up to the over clock proposed earlier? (3.4Ghz)

...I don't see an seperate HSF on the shopping list.

no it isn't unless you live in a cold room but that doesn't mean ditch the warranty for a hsf. I'd take a Arctic Freezer for moderate overclocking on that cpu.

Does he need to reach 3.4? I don't know if he will be able to, but hexus tested and reached 3.07 with the stock hsf which is decent for a £50/less cpu.

Ive sold the GFX card but i stil have the case. its too late now anyway ive orderd most of it, apart from the GFX card and the RAM.
my dad just said pay him back next week so i took advantage of the cheeper 700Watt PSU.
    yet again thanks lad's.

And also reading on im still confused on what graphics card to go with. and i stupidly sold the GFX card but stuck the case in the attic so if anyone wants the case i just purchesd il be sticking it on for sale on her in a bit.
and seeing as i now have a 700Watt PSU there is no limitation on the GFX card i get and i dont mind paying 100-150 for a new one.
just get the rents to pay for that. ( they owe me money ;] )
