    Question PooR 3Dmark performance!

    hey guys,

I just reinstalled my computer and am having issues with the BRAND NEW 9800GTX...am having to OC it by 10% to get just below 14.000 points, now call me nuts but this is a 9800GTX; my 8800GTS 320MB clocked at 600/900 had 13.127 on 3D mark06...???

My question is, Is this supposed to be like this?

    Initial Non system OC'd result on 3dmark06 - 11.500
System OC'd at 10% both CPU and GPU - 14.000

Current settings have changed yet again and i have yet to post my new score, this is the Set up as it stands no yet benchmarked on 3Dmarker06.

    CPU Q6600 @ 377*9 - 3393Mhz
    GPU 9800GTX Gigabyte @ 675/1210[2420]
Mem Crucial Ballistix Tracer - Voltage @2.1/Timings @5-5-5-18/ Freq @565Mhz

    Re: PooR 3Dmark performance!

Your score should be about 15000 to 16000.

Have you installed the latest drivers? Try reinstalling and installing drivers again.

    How the performance in games?

Loving the Game performance i mean on COD 4 with everything turned off and 1440x900 at 75MHz and x16 AA is always constant on 125 FPS which is the setup i use in Clanbase matches, however i still would want my graphics card to run properly...which it isn't....btw did you mean 15000 @stock speed?

I'm not that familiar with the 9800 GTX, but I know someone that got 15500 with a Q6600 @ 3.6, and a 9800gtx @ 775/1250/1944, which I have just realised is overclocked so maybe your score is about correct.

WOW i just don't understand why i would switch GPU then xD. My 8800 was fine and work like a charm with no problems....is this a waste of money??

If you went up on the resolution you begin to see a bigger difference.

    Re: PooR 3Dmark performance!

Ok i just managed a good run out of 3Dmark06 with 15.696 points

This is with this current setup!

    CPU Q6600 @ 377*9 - 3393Mhz
    GPU 9800GTX Gigabyte @ 675/1210[2420]
Mem Crucial Ballistix Tracer - Voltage @2.1/Timings @5-5-5-18/ Freq @565Mhz

now i guess am pushing my components a bit however i was looking to get around 17k + Oc'd when i pushed my components....

Well if it is the most i can push out of my components, is there any tweaks or mods i can be recommended on my mobo to possibly OC the chipset or tweak ram timings.

I have the DFI LANPARTY X38-T2R

I think it's simply a fact of dimishing returns, the 3dMark score system tends to give less and less the more hardware you throw at it (and rightly so given game performance changes).
