    Optimisers

Is there REALLY a programme that will actually optimise the computer so that it runs smoother and faster both at the desktop level and on the internet?

Or are they all just a load of b*****ks?

yes it's called the windows setup routine. Joking

programs like ccleaner can clear the cruft that windows accumulates over time and does not cost a penny. also there are tools out there that help configure your network settings to make them more efficient also doing a dafrag every so often helps.

    Paul.
To be fair, there are programs *do* help things run more smoothly IF you aren't the kind of person who already performs maintenance on your machine manually (such as regular spyware checks, uninstalling unwanted programs, deleting undeeded files)

What the applications offer is a central location from which to perform your maintenance. My personal preference is System Mechanic, I'm just a little bit disappointed there isn't a 64bit version yet.
