Connection to internet sites and also windows secuity problem

Hi, hope you can help to save me from reformatting. The problem started a few days ago, I thought it was just my Internet provider but it turns out to be a little more serious. My connection to websites are slow to non existent and also each time I boot up the windows xp security is automatically turned off, I can not just click on the balloon to activate it, I have to go through control panel and even then it doesn't always work. I did a Nod 32 scan which threw up 2 suspect problems in my internet temp folder, I got rid and did another scan this morning which threw up another but the problem still persists. Please can you advise, thanks.

is your internet connection completely gone, or is it just blocking some sites, i.e. anti virus sites?
Try the virus scan in safe mode, that way, the virus wont start on boot (it might be hiding itself form your virus scanner)

Hi, no the connection is fine, i'm downloading at the same speed as before it's just the sites, i did notice last night that it automatically loaded up 3 anti virus websites all by it's self.
