    New laptop time!

Ok my sister is off to uni again and were thinking of getting her a new laptop. The old one is not really up to it anymore. So having looked around for a laptop in the £200 to £300 range I found this- Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 2727 T1400 1GB 15.4" Laptop.

So just want to know if this will be ok for general net browsing/uni work/msn and so on (no games) We would most likely get this from Tesco's (extra points lol) Now will Vista home basic be pre installed and ready to go? or do we have to pay again? Also not sure if its the same on this laptop at other stores, but it comes with 'internet security suite with free updates for 90 days' Now can i just remove this via the add/remove program and stick avg on it?

So if anyone can help me out with those question, I would be grateful

It'll be fine for general weork, WP etc. Pretty sure it will have an OS installed - better to ask at the store!

Yes, you will be able to install whatever software you like - and uninstall whatever has been pre-loaded.

    Re: New laptop time!

Did a little research on the Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li 2727 and found that you have to turn on the wireless each time you boot up. There are some fixes but its seems to be hit and miss.

So had another look and found this -Compaq Presario C791EM (on tesco's site its the Compaq 791em M560)

Does anyone have one of these? Is There any problems with the wireless on it? Can't find much info about it.

Compaq and HP are part of the same company, so should be OK - try having a look at the HP website - they sometimes have discount deals for students at this time of the year.

My parents went for the cheaper option lol So will see how true this wireless problem is, and try and fix as some others have.
