    DVD Drive Installation

    Hi,

I bought a LG 22x Internal LScribe DVD+/-RW Drive but I'm having trouble connecting it.

I have a nForce 790i Ultra SLI board and assumed that I could connect it using the IDE-ATA 133 HDD cable that came with it. But, although I have it connected up, it isn't recognised by the computer.

Is there some other connector, or perhaps something I've missed?

The reason I got this is because my other DVD drive stopped reading DVDs so until I've got it working I'm going to be bored out of my mind.

    Thanks

Master, slave, cable select jumper correct position? check old drive.
Reconnect old drive and check it's recognised.
    Not changed bios settings?

    Re: DVD Drive Installation

my PC did this.. swapped out a SATA DVD drive for an IDE drive, and the only way i could fix it was by re-installing Windows Vista..
it's recognised by the BIOS yeah?
and comes up with an installation thing in Windows?
but it won't let you actually use the drive?

    Re: DVD Drive Installation

    Thanks for your help everyone.

The IDE port on the Motherboard was disabled in the BIOS.

I'm not normally a very technical computer guy so it didn't automatically spring to mind.
