    Q6600 Overclock temps

I have just finished my new build and I have overclocked my q6600 to 3.0ghz. At idle the temps are 40-44c and at full load they hit around 70c. I am using an arctic freezer pro 7 and antec 900 with all fans on high and I'm not sure if these temps are too high. I heard that once the thermal paste on the arctic freezer pro 7 sets the cooling is better, is this true?

    Re: Q6600 Overclock temps

My Q6600 at 3.0gHz, with a Scythe Ninja on top and in the Antec 900 idles around 30c, full load at around 40-50c. I'm using some overpriced antec thermal paste from maplin.

Your temps sound a little high, but nothing to be worried about. It's best to get them below 60c on full load.

Is there anything obvious that would contribute to heat? Is it near a radiator? Is it in a confined space? Are the fans not spinning at 100%? Bad cabling (reduces airflow)?

    Re: Q6600 Overclock temps

Sounds too high to me, i have the same setup in a Antec P182. Idle around 31, 32 and reach 45, 50 under load. Of course you need to consider ambiant temps, and airflow in the case, and if the HSF is properly seated. Make sure the pins are pushed in tight, and if you don't get any better temps perhaps consider re-appplying the thermal paste and re-seat the HSF.

    Re: Q6600 Overclock temps

have you seated the heatsink in the right direction?
my cousin has that cooler and he wondered why his temperatures were worse than when he had the stock cooler.
it's cos he'd mounted it so it was blowing air against the case airflow.

    check that?
and check all the push pins are connected properly.
