Question pc dvi hdmi ati4850 lcd tv :)

    hello,
I am looking to purchase a new telly to replace my panasonic viera 32". My pc is quite good and i would like to get a 42" 1080p to play games like COD4 ,5 and Fallout3. I have a 22" sun crt for ut2004. Does anyone here have a big 1080p telly that they use for games. I want to get something that can handle a normal speed game but produce acceptable performance. Another thing i would like some info on is whether dvi to hdmi works ok and has decent resolutions through that connection. Thanks for any help

    popa

Re: pc dvi hdmi ati4850 lcd tv :)

Normally the ati 4850 comes with a dvi to hdmi adaptor, so you just need a standard hdmi cable to connect the pc to the tv. The 4850 will also transmit sound across the hdmi cable if you want. If you dont use an adaptor, a dvi to hdmi cable will work just fine, but to get sound you'll have to connect the tv speakers to the pc sound card.

Anyhow a 1080p tv runs at 1920*1080 and at that resolution, I would say the best gfx card would be something like a ati 4870/gtx 260. A 4850 will be able to handle most games at that res but I'd imagine you would have to lower the settings to get a smooth performance.

Check out gfx card reviews on google and look at the 1920*1200 scores, that will give you a good idea on what gfx card you will need.
