    Saving dead PC files

My friends got a pc that is infected with a virus or something along those lines and will boot into windows but wont load programs etc.

He going to get a new pc as he was about to buy one anyway and he wants to saves his iTunes music.
My first idea was to put the hdd from the old pc into his now one so he could boot from the new pc and transfer across any files he wanted to save.

I then thought though that being as it's infected their is probaly a high chance of his new pc becoming infected which he doesn't want amazingly!

Does anyone know the best way to rescue some of his files (espically his itunes music)

You have to activate your pc to play songs from that itunes acount so i assume he will just have to do that.

At the moment i don't think he's that worried about playing them he just wants the files.

    Re: Saving dead PC files

You could boot the old PC with a Linux Live CD/DVD and copy the files to some sort of removable device.

    Here are some guides:

If the old PC is somehow infected, I would strongly recommend scanning any files you do copy for viruses. Also, make a point of installing some Anti Virus software straight away on the new PC.
