Thanks mate. Been wondering that for a while lol
Mybooks are best dissected and the drives stolen, placed in something other than a Mybook Ruddy awful bits of kit >:|
Place I look after bought 50 1tb models not long ago. All failed with the same software/firmware fault and all sent back to be replaced by something that works :|
Moo.
Had no problems with mine.
mine held up for about a year, then the HDD went. i did a fair bit of fiddling with mine too, if you currently use one this is a good resource: http://mybookworld.wikidot.com/. Ultimately i would agree with synaesthesia, as far as external HDD's go, they are ruddy awful. Poor transfer rates, unreliable and don't bounce very well.

Mine doesn't get moved, apart from the occasional nudge and it's only used a few times a week on average, so it should last. Desktop drives aren't made to be rugged, so failing after being dropped is to be expected really.
Pist... I was joking about the bouncing part

Lol, I know. BTW, does anyone happen to know what drive is used in model number: WD3200D0332 which is a MyBook Premium 320GB. Interested in how many platter it has - it's a 320 so I'm thinking a single platter but it's not exactly a new drive so mayne 2x160GB platters?
