Hey all,
I am having issues with my new P5KPL-AM board. Everythin appeared to go well with the upgrade until I loaded Vista (no jokes please) and the system just would hang when it tried to initialise my CISCO PCI Wireless card. Well after ALOT of playing about I just went and replaced the CISCO with a cheapie Edimax Wireless card (7128g i think it was) and BINGO the system came up no probs and would connect to the internet no worries - problem solved i thought - until I tried to put any strain on the wireless card at all.
As soon as there is any "pressure" is placed on the Wireless card the whole system will just lock up solid - no BSOD or error in eventvwr just hard locked until you power off. I thought this might be yet another faulty wireless card so I tried both the new card and the old on in a new PC - they work just fine. The other PCI card is a 4 port USB card - this appears to work but becomes unstable when load is placed on the USB device (HDD or mem stick).
The ony conclusion I am left with is that there is a problem with the PCI or PCI bus on teh mobo but I just wanted to raise it here before I RMA the board.
System is :-
ASUS P5KPL-AM (latest BIOS)
Vista x64 (although I have tried x86 with same results)
480W PSU (AC Input: 115/230VAC 6.5/3A 60/50Hz)
GeForce 8600GT 512MB (no external power - it draws from board)
OCZ 2 x 2GB Gold Edition XTC DDR2-6400 (5-5-5-18 @1.9v - although I can only run it at either 6-6-6-15 @ 1.8 or 5-5-5-15 @ 2.0)
Intel E5200
Arctic Alpine 7
Seagate SATA HDD 150GB
Edimax PCI Wireless card (7128g i think) - latest drivers as well as older ones shipped with card
Generic 4 port PCI USB card
Any help greatly received as this is driving me nuts
