    Overclocking Pentium 4 socket 478

I have an old Pentium 4 system that I don't really use that much. Could someone point me to a website or a forum thread that describes how to overclock such a system (if possible) ? I am new to overclocking so any help is appreciated. The full specs are:

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 2.66 GHz (socket 478)
MOBO: ECS P4VXASD2+ (FSB up to 533 MHz)
Chipsets: VIA P4X333 Northbridge and VT8235/8233A(CE) Southbridge
    Memory: 1GB A-Data DDR PC2700 (333Mhz) (max supported)
    CPU cooler: OCZ Tempest

There are plenty of overclocking guides on the net. Have a read and have a go; if you have any questions just post up

You want to OC a P4 2.8? Those things use a massive amount of electricity - OCing them would probably require decent chunk of change set aside for your electric bill and ideally some air conditioning units in summertime. As a bonus, though, when it's cold it will keep a small room comfortably warm, which is the one thing I miss about my olde P4 2.6.

The whole thing is just sitting there in the room so I thought why not. After a bit of searching though I came to the conclusion that my MOBO is not what you'd call overclock friendly. Everything seems to be locked. There are some weird jumbers that I can try messing with but it will probably not work...

I was thinking that. VIA aren't the best when it comes to overclocking.

Re: Overclocking Pentium 4 socket 478

Has anyone had any experience with a little program called CPUFSB? I have read that it may be possible to alter the FSB frequency with that within the OS even if the options in the BIOS setup are locked. Any idea if it works?
