    D-Link DSL-G604T router invalid password

    Hey,

I am trying to use an old router that I have had lying around for a little while now, its a D-Link DSL-G604T. When I connect it up to my computer via Ethernet and access it via 192.168.1.1 the username and password of 'admin' doesn't work, even though that is definitely the default username and pass. I've tried resetting several times, but I still get an invalid username/password error.

I've tried other combinations like admin/password etc, but to no avail.

Is there any other way that I can get access to this router?

    Thanks.

Have you tried admin with no password?

Are you sure the reset worked?

Yeah, I've tried that as well as many other combinations - also tried lots of passwords that I frequently use. I also checkout out that website; I held the reset button in until the status light goes off and it still doesn't work.

    Any more suggestions please?

Can't think of anything else if the resets are working and you have tried admin/admin and admin/nothing. All I can say is that you are not alone:

Might be worth logging a call with d-link:

    Thanks for your help, blueball.

Is there any possible way of updating the firmware without accessing the control panel?

I'm not particularly familiar with that model (I have a DIR-655) but I think you need to access the web page to update it. I used to have a Zyxel that allowed terminal type connections but you still needed to know the admin password. I would def be tempted to log a call with d-link. If nothing else you can post back and let us know how good/bad their support is
