*** vw passat remote key ***

Bit of a random one, like the Ben & Jerrys for £1.99 (THANK YOU !!!!)

Got a Passat (2nd hand) but without the remote locking key. Does anyone know where i got a replacement (hopefully not an expensive one from VW) or a shell that i can stick my key in and reprogram somehow.

    Cheers

Contact VW with your chassis number and whatever else in on the VIN plate.

I don't expect this to be cheap, and no, there is no way to do this yourself and probably no cheaper alternative either.

Not one to ruffle feathers, but you're wrong (depending on year of course)

where there is a will, there is always a way and I can assure you it is possible and it is cheaper to do it yourself.

@ the OP, you'll need to help me out with the part number for your key and the year of car please

P.s. I doubt the Ford/Seat dealer will be much help, keys are one thing the dealerships don't budge on price for.

Edit - I'm presuming yours isn't the base of base models? (some didn't actually have RCL)

not remotes, you'll find it difficult to code (for example) a ford remote to a Vw, only certain parts are interchangeable, afaik, Keys aren't one of them

Best bet, pop over to www.shoerepairer.info and put a request in their "ask for help" section. There's a fair few auto locksmiths on the site now and one of them may be able to help you.

Failing that, try contacting www.hickleys.com, see if they can suggest someone who sells & programs the remotes in your area.

Can't help much more than that as I work for a trade distributor, and most of my contacts for those are people who sell to locksmiths.
