Exclamation No drives showing in My Computer

I've been looking into ways of hiding drives/partitions on my computer. One of the methods I found was to right click my computer and select manage and to then select the drive I wanted to conceal and remove its allocation letter. However, after doing this and then changing it back I can no longer see any of my drives in the My Computer area, it's totally blank. All the drives still work and I can access them but I was wondering if anyone knew why they had all disappeared? And how to fix this?

    Thank you!

Yep they are there, that's where I went to remove the drive allocation in order to hide them from showing up in the my computer section, but I only tried one drive and it was just an external one, I did nothing to any other drives and yet every single drive is now missing from the my computer section.

Have you tried giving them a letter and labeling them?

Also, have a look in the BIOS and check if they appear there.

Sounds to me like you just need to go into disk management and allocate a drive letter....

Re: No drives showing in My Computer

Everything shows up in the BIOS and in disk manager all drives have letters allocated... Should I try changing them and see if that helps?

Re: No drives showing in My Computer

I had something like this happen years ago when I was messing around with the drive letters, I'm unsure what I did, but what I would probably do is assign the orginal letters to the drives and see what happens.

If that doesnt help, get a free trial of Acronis Disk Director and have a fiddle there.

    +1 the suggestions above.
Or even do a roll back on the system to the last restore point.

Re: No drives showing in My Computer

I've tried changing drive letters, except for the C drive which I can't as it's the main drive, with no effect.

Will uninstalling the drives in device manager cause the system to crash?

Re: No drives showing in My Computer

Fixed it! Another facility I'd been experimenting had caused the issue but it's all sorted now! Thanks everyone!

Re: No drives showing in My Computer

glad you fixed it, just to clear things up, if you uninstalled any drives excluding the drive with your OS then nothing would happen
