Amiga Workbench disks - the long shot to beat all long shots :-)

Yeah, I know... This is the long shot to beat all long shots, but I don't suppose anyone in the Greater Manchester area has a copy of the Amiga Workbench 3.0 "install" disk? I've got the main Workbench disk, plus Extras, Storage, Locale and Fonts, but the Install disk is not there, and I've got a hard drive I want to set up.

Yeah I know I can get them off ebay or whatever, but I WANT THEM NOW.

(I've already tried prepping it on WinUAE, but that doesn't work.)

I have got some preinstalled systems, but it won't do any harm to give those a try... I'll let you know how I get on

Heh - no problem, got it sorted now, with a major load of piddling around. I decided to stop guessing and actually ask someone on the English Amiga Board. It was just one setting that I'd got wrong!

Only just read this, but I'm in manc and still have a load of old amiga disks, if you have any more issues PM me and I'll see if I can be of help.
What are you doing with the amiga anyway? Bit of retro fun or something more productive?

    Do it!

I managed to get to the first tunnel level of Super Stardust yesterday, and it's looking good for a 15 (?) year old game!!

I fired up UAE on my media center PC after seeing this thread last week.

Pfft. Shrink your window down to 14" diagonal and run it through an RF cable for that ultra-realistic feel

Ooh harsh, but fair. Think I'd have to make a clunk noise every time the resolution changed too to simulate the old monitor I used to have too!

Is there any easy way to get at the content of an old Amiga HDD? I've got one lying around somewhere (60MB or something equally amusing in size :-) ). Would I need the whole WinUAE thing? Not sure if I've still got any workbench disks though

I used an IDE to USB HDD converter, mounted the drive within UAE and booted a workbench image.

I bought AmigaForever last year, which comes with a load of games 'n' stuff, plus some demos and a couple of pre-built workbench installations, which certainly came in very useful (especially the addition of DirectoryOpus)

Re: Amiga Workbench disks - the long shot to beat all long shots :-)

Thanks Mike. I've got a IDE to USB connector, but I'd not tried WinUAE, largely because I've not still got the old machine to read the ROM off, and I don't think I've still got enough stuff kicking around to make it worth buying one. Would be nice to get at my old files on the HDD though.
