    Vista 64 Reset Itself?

I am running Vista x64, with KIS9 fully up to date. Turned it off last night and this morning turned it on and it had re set itself - it created a new desktop as if first installed. I had a few minutes to look at it and it appears that it has created a new user directory under C/Users. My old user with all my data is called andrew (it is still there), computer name is hal. New user, to which I think it loads, is andrew.hal. In control panel it still only shows my original user account andrew.

Can anyone help restore my old account without a reinstall. Suffice to say I wont be connecting to the interent until fixed.

Windows gets confused sometimes - I've seen it happen a lot on PCs connected to a domain (XP though).

A reboot normally fixes it as it was often caused by poor network conditions when Windows can't load the profile, but on a home PC it's quite rare. Move the new profile folder somewhere and reboot.

Thanks, I will try this when I get home. I have tried system restore a couple of times but this fails no matter how far back I go.

I might have to bite the bullet and have a fresh install. Spent last night backing up. Wish I bought Win7 now.
