    Blast From The Past (AGP/PCI)

Been giving this PC to have a look at, basically the monitor is giving a no signa/scrambled picture and the gfx chip is onboard so pretty sure that it or the connector is toast (as it feels loose and moves around). Now the board supports AGP 8X and has 2 spare PCI ports so was gonna get a AGP card on the cheap to try as the PC is still outputting sound, thing is it has a lovely little warning not to use a 3.3v AGP card, which i think is AGP 1x but not 100% sure so wanted to check.

The board is this one http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=K7S41GX

Yep AGP1x and 2x is 3.3v, though it shouldn't matter as the AGP slot on the board should be keyed not to accept the 1x/2x cards, even so I'd check the new card out anyways.

Re: Blast From The Past (AGP/PCI)

yup, the AGP slot has a little dividing "key" about 2/3 of the way back, which keys it to AGP 4x. 1x and 2x cards won't have the appropriate cut-out on the card to allow them to fit.

If you're after an AGP card I've got a couple I was about to put up in the for sale forum; let me know if you're interested and I'll PM you when I put them up...

Cheers scary, not sure what he wants to do with it yet but pretty sure he will want one, think price is a issue though.

Re: Blast From The Past (AGP/PCI)

All my AGP cards are kind of old, so I'll be flogging them off relatively cheap I've got a couple of high-end (for their time) cards that would still do for gaming at low resolution with the image enhancements turned down a bit, and also a wide range that would be perfect for normal desktop / word processing / browsing etc. I'll let you know when they hit the for sale forum
