quake live and css mystery hitch

My PC is starting to have strange problems and im at a loss to what is causing it.
Quake live and CSS have started stalling/looping for a while and then coming back to life after about 30 secs.
While it does this in quake live, the audio loops, and peoples legs keep running. In counter strike, it replays the last 2 frames over and over, so it looks like everything is vibrating, and when it resumes, all player models are invisible, except the items they are carrying, e.g. flashbangs, defuse kit.
At first I thought it was my dodgy wireless internet connection, but then I got a proper wireless internet lag, and the words "connection interrupted" appeared on the screen with no looping audio or tainted visuals. I have ordered a long ethernet cable just to rule it out though.
After that I have no idea what could be causing it.

Does sound like connection issues to be honest, when playing CS open the console and type net_graph 3 (think it still works) this will display all the connection settings on the screen and it will be evident if your connection has dropped from all the red lines.

*Edit* net_graph 0 gets rid off it lol.

Sounds like the same when I used wireless on my desktop, connection dropping. Checked the temps inside your pc just in case?
