System wont resume from sleep...

As title really - I'm running 7 and if I try to sleep computer everything goes OK until I try to turn the system back on - system powers up but there's no signal being sent to monitor and keyboard lights are off. To get the system to boot again I have to unplug from mains, presumably to empty RAM, then power up which does resume like from hibernation (I'm guessing because hybrid sleep combines sleep and hibernate) but this does take a fair while compared to a normal boot. I'm not really sure where to start to solve this - OS or BIOS settings?

I had the same problem on my lappy.. i guess my only piece of advice would be to make sure you dont have too many programs on when you put it to sleep because that means that the processor has to work harder at start up. Its kind of simple but it worked for me .

Err no nothing like that and I've also tried standby with no programs running. Can't think what's causing it.

got any add in cards or anything plugged in?
try it with all webcams and everything unplugged?
just the bare essentials.

No add in cards and I've tried with just essentials also. All I can think of is maybe motherboard settings? Any settings that could cause this?

just have a look around in the BIOS.. see if you can find any settings related to this.

Yeah I'll have a go tomorrow, failing that I'll check for BIOS updates. And thanks for the help anyway

I had a similar problem once, never did find out exactly what caused it, but I had to reset the bios before it would boot again.

Glad it's not just me then. I didn't have to go to that length but it is a pain to get the system to boot again!

Well i found that sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't, basically the fan was still running and the light was there to show that my computer was on, but it failed to process the information of switching back on. You could possibly check the wirings and connections to make sure that the information is getting through on wake up. Apart from that i really cant help. I hope it goes well
