System clock keeps resetting

Hi, Recently built a system based on an asus p6t se motherboard, intel i7 920 processor & 6GB Corsair memory running windows 7 64 bit. I am having a problem with the system clock which keeps resetting when the system is powered down. I have updated the bios to the latest version, checked the position of the clear cmos jumper and measured the voltage of the bios battery (>3 V). If I power down the machine but leave it plugged in the clock is maintained. However if I unplug the machine the rest of the bios settings are retained but the clock reverts to its default settings.

So is it the Windows clock you want correcting or the BIOS one ?

buy a new battery anyway, and it is in the right way with no plastic layer stopping it isnt it ?

Yup, I'd try a new battery.
