    help dell e248wfp dead:(

    hi

one of my dell monitors has decided to die. i woke up this morning and noticed it had turned it self on.

i tried to turn it of with the button at the front but it whould not turn off so i turned it off and on at the mains switch.

now the monitor turned on and showed the desktop when the pc was on but the monitor was turning it self on and off and the front buttons were not working and i could not get the menu button to work either.

after a few minutes of repeatedly turning its self on and off and testing on another pc to make sure it was not that it now wont even turn on

i bought it from scan in apr 29 08 last year and bought another in aug is there any warranty left on it?

ive not used them much as ive been waiting for a new gfx card to run all 3 of my monitors from one pc and now cant even do that as 1 dell is dead.

    thanks
    jf

dell monitors are usually 3 year warranty. Go to the Dell website and put in your service tag code to check the warranty

I'd just deal direct with Dell if I were you. They'll send a courier with a replacement and take away the faulty one.

    Re: help dell e248wfp dead:(

My 2405 didn't have a service tag either. I just called up and spoke to a nice (English) guy who sorted everything. As Killie said, the next day a swapout appeared before 9am (I got a 2407). Didn't need boxes, didn't need to arrange a courier, nothing. He took mine and gave me his. Sorted.

The only negative of going with Dell is that you'll undoubtedly get a refurb. I don't care myself, but some others don't like refurbs.

Top service though. Far, far easier and quicker than Scan.

id rather have it replaced with a new one but a refurb is better than bugger all.
