HD4200 and a hdtv but screen too small

Hi i just got the new mobo MA785 and it says my graphics is ATI4200. So i have it connected with the DVI cable to the tv which is a lg full hd 1080 tv. Im running windows 7.
with my old card on windows vista the screen was fine.
With my new mobo the screen is too small about 3cm black border.
i have no options in the ccc to fix this. its set to the HD 1080 resolution and there is no options in windows 7. i just need to stretch the screen! ive got the latest drivers too.

Any ideas, ive googled like crazy but find nothing

On your TV in the menu, where you hab select options like 16:9, 4:3 or Zoom, there should be an option called just scan. Try that.

There's also an option on the ATI CCC called Scaling. Use that and you can scale the image out to meet the bezel of your TV.

There is an issue with 7 and the ATI drivers where you don't get the overscan/scaling option if you let 7 update your drivers automatically.

If you can't see the overscan option you need to download the latest ATI drivers, completely uninstall and erase your current driver and install the newly downloaded ones.

another idea is on my sony I had to turn on 1:1 pixel mapping (or similar) to get 1080P to look perfect when I plugged in my PC

I had the same problem but got it fixed by changing the screen refresh rate from 60Hz to 50Hz.

Re: HD4200 and a hdtv but screen too small

Thanks Guys what a great response!
I feel i might get this to work.
To answer some of your sugestions, for some reason the 'scan' option on the tv is blanked out, actually all options are blanked out except 16:9 and 4:3 or what ever.
No there is no scaling option in the ccc
I changed the htz but again nothing
I will try the re install of the updated drivers....

Salazaar when you say completley uninstal do you mean 'uninstal driver' from device manager or should i do more?

    thanks once again guys

Can't remember the exact wording but do your best to uninstall and delete the old drivers (I think there's an option to do that in device manager) and do not let Windows automatically update them afterwards. I think the way that 7 works, you can then install the newly downloaded drivers without having to reset your pc.

Sorry to be a bit vague but I'm trying to go through this from memory

You might want to get Drive Cleaner and run that from safe Mode too, removing all ATI traces.

Re: HD4200 and a hdtv but screen too small

Not sure if this is relevant but for my LG HDTV I had to change the "Input Label" to "PC" or the picture would not work properly - although that was for DVI->HDMI input.

Until I did that the picture looked blurry and did not fill the screen.

Are you using Dual Screens (Monitor+TV) ?

If that's the case, you surely will need the ATI drivers and CCC to set up the multi screen mode.
