    Using RAM with diff timings

    Hi all,

just a quick (and probably stupid question) but can i use two types of RAM that have diff timings.

    here is the deal:

ive got 4gb of crucial ddr 2 800 5-5 in my pc.
ive just started dismantling a media PC with OCX ddr2 800 4-4 ram in it, and i had this great idea of using it all in one pc.

now, when i have put it all together, the pc just hangs on the windows 7 loading screen - just sits there for 10 mins, as opposed to 1 min and heading to the desktop.

any way of getting it working?
and which is the better RAM? the 4-4 or 5-5?

    thanks

Technically lower latencies should be better but in reality you won't really see the difference.

Usually to use 4 sticks of RAM you'll haev to go into your BIOS and up your MCH/NB/Chipset voltage by a notch or two.

With my P35 board, the default NB voltage is 1.25V, I up it to 1.33V to run 4 sticks of RAM (Although I only run 2 atm) otherwise it doesn't even boot up for me sometimes. And if it does sometimes it just restarts automatically or crashes haha.

well, i gave the voltages a try - and it worked.
but the system became a lot slower with the 8gb in there...

    any ideas?
