computer power off sudden and wont start after

    Hi all

i cleaned out my pc few hous ago + some rewiring work and put it back. After an hour of playing cs, my comp just restarted randomly ( no error message, not a thing) and that is the first time it does that. So i powered it back up again and tried to log in the game, and about 5mins in, it shut itself down again. This time, i can't power it up again, even i put power button. It just like dead...this is scary cause i dont know what wrong, no error message no nothing.

The led on mother is on but pushing power button do nothing. Here is the few things i think could be the root of the problem:
-> I used compressed air can and sparyed it everywhere and at time there was some something like water on the graphic card fan. Not sure if that go inside the card. but if it cause problem it would have done it first time.
-> Possibly the psu but it's about 1 year old and it's a cosair modulus psu 520w, i highly doubt its cause of psu.
-> I route the cable around the back and the space is tight so some of them got tighten/crushed up.

Other than that i have no idea what gone wrong. Stay in campus and got no pc, this killing me lol

    any suggestion is appreciated!

Try to reseat the CPU, usually a random reset is due to something overheating.

The graphics card is unlikely to be damaged but depending on how long the water is there for and how much was in it, it could be damaged. If you can get your pc to boot again, try not to do anything apart from casual stuff like web browsing and see if the pc still screws up.

Perhaps there's a loose connection with power, try to plug every power connector back on.

Another possibility is that the front panel connectors aren't linked to the motherboard properly and thus the power switch won't work now, again check the connections.

If there's a problem with the BIOS you could try clearing it the BIOS too by removing the battery.

I try to start it up again this morning but nothing still. The led on mother is on so it must have power from psu. I will just try to take out all the wires and recolllect them.

And how you test psu and how you test if the motherboard is fried?

    Thanks.

Well the light is still on on the motherboard so I don't think the PSU or motherboard has fried.

Re: computer power off sudden and wont start after

I had a PC display all the same symptoms - problem turned out to be the graphics card.

Do you get any POST beeps when you power up? If you do then check what they may be telling you. If the case is open are PSU, CPU & graphic fans working?

Otherwise would suggest disconnecting everything (RAM, HD any cards etc.) and then re-connecting one by one with power down/up each time to see which device might be the problem.

Re: computer power off sudden and wont start after

AH i think what might cause the problem now, the pci power cable links to graphic card is the culprit here im sure of it because one of the pin(?) or hole appears to be bended and little black (burned?), i just take that cable out and the pc posts now. What a relief!

    I will post result after.
