    You can still send it back under the 7 days distance selling act, it starts from the day you receive the item. It might cost you a couple a quid to send it back though.

    You can give it a chance, but it would be a big risk.

    Just think about it this way - how much do you think you've spent on 'cheap' PSUs in the past and if things carry on how much are you going to keep paying to replace them? Surely paying ~£40 or less would be cheaper in the long run? And by law the company would have to accept the PSU back under DSR whether they like it or not but yeah you'd have to pay for postage.
    A good PSU shouldn't fail even if there is a short or something - it will have overload + short circuit protection.
