Backing up 2 PC's with multiple drives

I have 2 pcs at home and have never really backed up with any success before. I recentley installed Win7 on a SSD and within 1 month it died completely and I lost my lovely new install and all of its contents. I have recentley bough a copy of Acronis true image and have made an image of the SSD before it collapsed so I am going to try that. Howeverwhat I would like is a easy reliable way to back up my systems and data. If I bought a Nas and put a couple of TB drives in it (one of which backs up the other) How easy is it to Back Up both operating systems and data - music, photos etc. I deally i'd like it to be automated and easy to reinstate if the worst came to the worst. Ooh and incremental just incase somthing i've installed or done is the root of the problem and I need to go back a couple of weeks!!

This probably sounds a little dumb for someone who has been building and playing with PC's for 15 years! But I've just never really worried about backing up before.

Sounds like you need WHS. It will do full backups + incremental. Easy to restore backed up stuff too.

Or grab a copy of 7 Professional, a Netgear ReadyNAS Duo and two 1TB drives.

7 HP doesn't come with networked backup as standard but I think Professional does. Obviously there are third party alternatives as well, but I don't know enough to discuss them.

Thanks for the tip - not heard of that software before and it looks pretty good!

Just had a look - according to Paul Thurrott, it does yes.
