    ATI 4870 help.

Just want a second opinion before i take it back to scan.

Its a friends machine that hes shipped back up to me (i built it originally), he said the pc would constantly BSOD and the display would artifact/lose display.

First thing i did was take the card out and put it in my rig, it worked for half an hour then no display.

I ran 3Dmark 06 and it worked fine.

Pc then randomly BSOD with a "atikmpag" error, i managed to catch it on camera, have a look see what you think.

Now the pc wont boot with the 4870 in, gets stuck in a cycle of bios posting then resetting, put my 4890 back in and pc boots straight away.

Which to me says the card has a present but intermittant fault, cant be a driver issue if its resetting the pc before it gets to windows.

    Heres the video guys.

Yes, does sound like an intermittent hardware fault. If you return it make sure you note the intermittent nature of the fault on the RMA or they might return it as tested fine.

And XFX. Why I am not surprised?

    Cheers for the quick reply.

And in the defense of XFX my XFX 4890 has been a trooper (so far), ive had quite a few XFX cards in the past, the only other one ive had fail on me was a 6600GT, even then it was just the fan that went on it and at the time XFX just sent me a replacement fan free of charge.
