Re: question about tripple channel mem

There's no such thing as triple channel RAM. The RAM is just sticks, if you use three of the same in a triple channel motherboard then they will run at triple channel speed. If you use two of them in a dual channel motherboard then they will run at double channel speed.

Re: question about tripple channel mem

The socket 1366 i7 processors (X58) are the only ones that support triple channel memory at the moment.

If you run 3 sticks of RAM in that motherboard it will end up running as single channel as it will run dual channel for an even number of identical sticks of RAM or single channel for an odd number of sticks RAM.

Re: question about tripple channel mem

There are no AMD chips which can do tri-channel memory, and therefore no AMD boards which can do tri-channel memory.

Only 900-series Intel Core i7 chips can, on an Intel X58 chipset motherboard.

edit: or Intel Xeon 35xx, 55xx, 36xx, and 56xx chips, on an Intel 5500 or 5520 chipset motherboard
