dropped my 400gb 2.5 external drive

dropped my drive the other week its a drive i used with a combo esata usb cable so its powered from the combo port of my latitude and alienware and i used it for shuffling files from one to the other or onto my media center

its fell of the table and stopped spinning gave it a knock on the side and it spun into life but only shows up as a drive in windows and cant be accessed atall

tried running it through a couple of spinrites options which took literally 3 or 4 days and still no joy , is it for the bin ? or is there any other tricks i could try to get it working atleast temporarily till i dump whatever waas left on it to another drive?

This may well not work but worth a go I spose: try a Linux live CD (ubuntu or similar) and boot from the CD and then try and mount the HDD under linux to see if it does more than just detect it and lets you at the files.
