    Computer does not boot.

Okay so i've had this problem for a long time now.

Sometimes my computer will boot fine.
Others it will be slow and then ends with a black screen with a flashing underscore in top left.
I then have to restart the computer and bash F8 until i can launch from the HD.

Computer has been took to where i bought it from. They seem clueless.

First they took google chrome off and said that was the problem.
Then they said it was my keyboard/mouse and had to try disconnecting them and use others.

    None of which helped :/

EDIT: On first setup a USB broke.. Which was not under cover as it is a "user error" >_>
Also said it could be motherboard that is damaged.
    (Which I doubt :3)

    Re: Computer does not boot.

    Sounds like the bios.
My suspicion is that it's set to boot off of something other than the HD initially, and somehow a signal is being sent to the bios that a device is available to boot from and it's awaiting input from this phantom device.

Possibly a reflashing of your bios would assist, it would at least clear that theory.

You haven't stated that when it does boot if it interacts with Windows at all, your symptoms seem to indicate it doesn't but the Chrome comment later counters this.

Haven't used Chrome since December or something.

When it boots alone everything is normal, same as when I have to use F8 :/
    If that's what you mean

    Re: Computer does not boot.

I'm thinking that this is possibly a faulty hard drive. Have you re-installed your operating system from scratch ? Assuming you've got installation media for your operating system that is.

To be honest I think you took it to a right cow boy, who caught it on a good day, looked to see what you had installed and thought oh I know lets blame it on google chrome who then robbed you for a fair few pound notes for I suspect 10 minutes work.

System specs would also be nice, and what your operating system is.

    Re: Computer does not boot.

Well I'd re-install Windows and see what happens from there, if that cures it then you know theres nowt wrong with your hardware, but if the problem persists then you can get them to replace the faulty part.

    Re: Computer does not boot.

Could this be happening due to my disk drive?
Most of the time in my computer, My disc drive does not show up.
    Only a BD-Rom drive that actually isn't there :/
(Also only opens during shutdown /disc drive)
    Today my computer booted fine.
    Installed BFBC2.
    Played about 5mins.
    Put computer on sleep.
Came back and tried to launch again.
    "No disc inserted"
And disc drive dispeared once again from "My Computer"
Then had to restart (Ended up having to use F8)
    Still did not appear.

EDIT: I'm sure my computer was reformatted at one point due to this, which did not cure it.
Bought computer about october 2009 i think
and this problem for about 9 months i think now.

What internet security software are you running ? This is starting to sound very familiar now.
