Hp pavilion dv6 - Choppy audio play back?

As per title really, first time ive used the machine for audio playback and well...its horrible! it will play a song fine, a few in fact then all of a sudden the music gets really chopp for about 2 seconds and then carrys on playin as if nothing happens...cpu usage is all over the place but nothing there to account for it, really stuck on this one! ive checked for virus's and cannot find any, ive ended programs and restarted the laptop, still no hope....

run hdtune on it and see if the hard drive has any errors.

and what program are you using for audio playback? got any codec packs installed?

Re: Hp pavilion dv6 - Choppy audio play back?

possible, however it does not affect it in games and (odd as this seems) i was monitoring it and the choppyness comes about 3 mins into the song EVERY time, the laptop was on a wooden surface and was raised due to me getting a battery that sticks out abit lol

i noticed a few different types of dv6s so heres a link to my model (the case style anyway)

my one has an AMD athlon x2
    vista basic
    ati 4530
    4gb ram
    5200 hdd
