    Borked HDD

Ok I have an HDD that suddenly failed to boot in AHCI mode; so i switched it to iDE mode and it booted fine.

Now however after trying to repair the disk with gparted (zeroing data as was advised) it gives me read/write MBR errors and wont show up for me to partition/erase the MBR data.

    Any ideas.

I have a bootable usb key to fix it.

    Cheers

Can you see the disk using GPARTED? You may have to start from scratch by writing the msdos signature to it.

    Re: Borked HDD

It used to; but now it will only show if i use the:

    sudo killall udisks

    command.

But when i try and write an MBR it gives me another error:
    Daemon is inhibited

    So any ideas
