Exclamation Connect PC & Mac via FireWire 800

    Evening all,

I'm looking for some help connecting my MacBook Pro to my new Windows 7 computer via FireWire. Originally I thought buying an external hard drive (WD My Book Studio Edition 1.5TB) would be a great idea because I can plug it in and it will work right away - unfortunately this isn't the case so I need to move all files from my External Drive to my Mac then move them from the Mac to the PC.

I think I confused myself in the above paragraph - sorry if it got you too.

I've read a few things online about connecting via an IP and using a FTP client - but I just can't seem to get these working as I think the majority of the guides are a few years old, and both Mac OS X and Windows have changed signifcantly since then.

Any help is very much appreciated.

    Thanks

It sounds like you have tried to use your external hard drive as a bridge between your macbok and your windows PC?
Pretty sure it doesnt work that way and a firewire device can only be available to one host at a time? Could be wrong though.
The easiest way for you to have files available to both (and its the way i do things) is probably using SMB share over Gigabit Ethernet.

    Or maybe im still confused?
