    HP Microserver Keys

Oh buggeration. Its not been a good evening.

First thing that happens is that my shuttle dies. I figure that I can chuck the hard drive into my HP Microserver and get the data off the drive - but I cant for the life of me find the damn things

Does anybody know the best way to go about getting a replacement - if you even can? Are they all the same locks? If so anyone in the Hemel/Watford/St Albans area got one and care to lend me a key?

I knew I shouldnt have locked it. Bah
    Any help much appreciated...

No not stupid at all I went to check there first - but dissapointing lack of small bag with 2 keys in there. Good news is that I have managed to find them after turning my study/games room over for ages. And then I found them on the second shelf that I checked in the first place... I must have not looked closely enough in my panic.

Lesson learnt though. The door stays locked. Keys in the lock. My data isnt that sensitive to go through that hassle again

Sigh - just need to sort another media PC now...

As my ex used to say, you did a 'man search' which consists of briefly looking around and then shouting and screaming about the loss of it

    Re: HP Microserver Keys

I find most of those locks can be turned with a screwdriver, which is exactly what i did to a dell server my work inherited but the previous admin deliberately locked. After I got access I took the back of the lock off so it could not lock again, but still latches fine. Anything with sensitive data should be in a locked room, as someone could just as easily take the whole computer.

why not put one of them on your keyring, and the other in a safe place?
